"In little more than a decade, he mastered a difficult medium - the woodcut - a forged a distinctive style that reflected a subtle understanding of and a deep sympathy for advanced trends in modern art, especially the work of contemporary German artists such as Kathe Kollwitz and Karl Schmitt-Rottluff," said Timothy Rub, director of the Cincinatti Art Musuem. "The lovely linear woodcuts and abstract images Miller created in the early 1930s rank among the finest prints of this type produced in the United States at that time."

The Catalina Islander April 10, 1941, page eleven reported:
"Los Angeles County Museum Exposition Park...Art Division...
The First Prize in Crafts ($50.00) went to Betty Nagelvoort Flint, for her block printed fabrics. Mrs Flint lives in Long Beach, where she maintains a private studio in her own home. She works with wood blocks in the old East Indian and Japanese manner, as well as with linoleum and the later screen block printing. She was first known to the local crafts world for her individual and beautifully wrought children's toys, carved from wood and painted, Although marketed locally and in New York, Mrs. Flint has never produced her handiwork in quantities, and can hardly be called a "commercial" craftsman, although she sells to special customers and friends."

"American Block Prints Exhibitions 1928 – 1938 Seward initiated this annual (by invitation) exhibition in 1927. The first exhibition was held at the Wichita City Library under the auspices of the Wichita Art Association. It was not just the first exhibition developed by the Association but more importantly it was also the first exhibition in the Midwest to have a national scope. The exhibition expanded to include jurors and awards in 1935, then expanded to include lithographs in 1938. For this first exhibition, which was held in 1928, the catalog introduction was written and signed by C.A. Seward. The catalogs for the following years appear to have also been written by Seward. These exhibitions continued after Seward’s death. (This exhibition continues as a Graphic Art &; Drawing Biennial Exhibition.) Artists from throughout the United States and Canada sent their prints for these exhibitions; from California - Frances Gearhart and William Rice, from New York - Ernest Watson, Jane Berry Judson and Leo Meissner, from Philadelphia - Edward Warwick and Herbert Pullinger, from Massachusetts – Blanche Lazzell and Todd Lindenmuth, New Mexico - Gustave Baumann and B.J.O.Nordfeldt, Canada - Walter J.
