Anderson, Seward, Fowler, Jones

Frank Hartley Anderson was a miniature print/bookplate collector, who wanted to feature print makers the way Alfred Fowler had done. In 1936 as Secretary-Treasurer Anderson started the Southern Print Makers.

Coy Avon Seward was a miniature print/bookplate collector, who wanted to feature print makers the way Alfred Fowler had done. Seward became Director of the Kansas Federation of Art, out of Wichita, Kansas. His group was a sponsor for the American Block Print tour.

Michael W. Jones is a modern day miniature print/bookplate collector. Like Fowler, Anderson and Seward, Jones enjoys featuring print artists. He invites them to take part in a print exchange. Each artist creates an edition of 23 prints, and sends that edition to Jones. He, in turn, separates the editions into sets, and sends a set to each participating artist. A recent "Black And White" exchange took place. Print makers took part from Australia, Canada, France, Russia, and the United States. I took part in the print exchange myself, cutting and submitting my own linocut. I asked participating artists about their involvement, to better understand a print artist like Fred Geary. You can read about what I found HERE.
